IMCD UK Chosen Charity for 2023: True Honour!
After a very successful year in 2022 which saw IMCD UK raise over £12,600 for Bowel Cancer UK, we are excited to share the news that we have selected True Honour as our designated charity for 2023.
Following a colleague poll earlier this year, we are thrilled to be raising funds for this brilliant charity. True Honour was nominated by our colleague, Serena Athwal, who holds a personal connection to the cause as her mother, Sarbjit, is the founder of the charity.
For those who may be unfamiliar, True Honour is dedicated to eradicating honour-based abuse and violence within the United Kingdom. By actively engaging with the police and other agencies, they aim to enhance their understanding of victims and address the specific needs of South Asian communities. Their approach includes comprehensive training initiatives, raising awareness, and providing a secure and empowering support system for victims.
True Honour plays a pivotal role in offering essential resources and assistance to individuals impacted by honour-based violence and, furthermore, they work tirelessly to raise awareness to prevent such abuse from happening in the first place.
Speaking to Sarbjit about our sponsorship, she said,
“As the founder of True Honour, I am deeply grateful to have the support of IMCD UK for 2023. It’s amazing to have a business like IMCD share our commitment to eradicating honour-based abuse and violence within the United Kingdom. Together, we can create a safer future by raising awareness and providing vital support to those affected by this devastating issue. I look forward to working together in the fight against honour-based abuse. Thank you!”.
We take great pride in standing alongside True Honour, and throughout the year we will be undertaking a variety of challenges and hosting events to raise money, starting with a 1,000km walk taking place this May. To donate, please visit our fundraising page on GoFundMe.
Stay tuned for further updates as we strive to make a lasting impact in the fight against honour-based abuse.
