A 20km Walk through London for Wallington Animal Rescue

Following our recent announcement that IMCD UK has selected Wallington Animal Rescue as our designated charity to support throughout 2024, we are delighted to share that, in May, over 50 IMCD UK employees embarked on a 20km journey through the heart of London to raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

In addition, our teams based in the north of the country participated in a similar walk in the West Midlands, contributing to the collective effort.

In 2023, our team tackled the picturesque Surrey Hills, conquering Leith Hill in support of True Honour. This year, we swapped rural landscapes for something more urban, tackling a scenic route through London. The challenge was to walk 20km and we are thrilled to announce that, in doing so, we raised £2,500 for Wallington Animal Rescue.

This year’s walk commenced at The Dog and Fox in Wimbledon. From there, the team proceeded to Richmond Park, one of London's largest and most beautiful green spaces. The team continued through Kew Gardens before following the iconic River Thames, over Bill's Bridge, culminating at the Winchester House Club in Putney, where they celebrated their achievement with a well-deserved drink.

Wallington Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and caring for unwanted, homeless, neglected, and abused animals. Their tireless work provides vital resources and assistance to animals in need, and IMCD UK is proud to support them on their mission. Every penny raised from the 20km trek went directly to Wallington Animal Rescue, helping them continue their essential work.

The annual IMCD UK charity walk, now in its fourth year, has become an integral part of our annual fundraising efforts; however, this year’s walk held an extra layer of importance as it took place during Mental Health Week. Mental Health Week not only highlighted the importance of physical activity but also the importance of community support in promoting mental well-being. This year’s walk served as a great way to action both of these points by taking a break from work to connect the team with their surroundings and colleagues. Looking ahead, IMCD UK remains committed to supporting meaningful causes and giving back to the community. Together, we can continue to make every step count.

Thank you to everyone who supported the London Trek 2024. It is your generosity and enthusiasm that make these events possible.
