Pharmaceuticals
Amberlite™ IRP69 is a strong acid cation exchange resin based on a sulphonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer, appearing as a fine, cream-coloured powder. In pharmaceuticals, it is primarily used as a drug carrier to create taste-masked and sustained-release resinates. The most common dosage forms are oral suspensions and tablets. The drug-resin complex prevents interaction with taste receptors on the tongue. Recommended levels of use vary depending on the drug's loading capacity and potency, but typical drug-to-resin ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4, ensuring a smooth mouthfeel and controlled dissociation in the gastrointestinal tract.
