FORMULATORY EXPERTISE
The challenge of this formula was to get a light and fresh skin feel while having an SPF 50+.
- O/W system with approximately 60% water phase for a light and fresh skin feel. Expected increased water rinsing resistance thanks to a very strong multilamellar structure of the alpha gel type emulsion. Absorption of a large part of the negative sensory impact brought by chemical filters.
- The use of a silicone-based ingredient in the external phase is key to improve the silky feel after application.
- Increasing the solubilizers ratio, use of Silica and a film former seems to be key to reach the SPF 50+
KEY ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
HA BOOSTER - KEWPIE
An ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (~2 kDa) designed to penetrate the stratum corneum and support collagen turnover while improving skin hydration.
In sunscreen formulations, it helps reduce dryness from UV filters, improve skin feel, and support anti-photoaging benefits.
INCI: Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate
PEONY ROOT EXTRACT (B)-BG - MARUZEN
A botanical extract from Paeonia lactiflora root.
It provides antioxidant and anti-aging benefits, helps inhibit collagen degradation (MMP-1), and promotes keratinocyte migration, supporting wound healing and skin regeneration

DERMALRX® FSE HH - BIOCOGENT
A marine bioferment derived from the brown algae Sargassum Vulgare via a proprietary fermentation process, rich in bioactive phlorotannins.
It stimulates repair of UV-damaged DNA. It’s a potent antioxidant by preventing activity of oxidizing species and neutralizes the inflammatory effects of urban air pollution.

KEY FUNCTIONAL INGREDIENTS
NIKKOL PUREPHOS ALPHA – NIKKO
O/W emulsifier able to create α-gel multilamellar emulsions, mimicking the SC intercellular lipid structure. Gradually releases the bound water for a long-lasting hydration and a fresh skin feel. Forms a barrier-like film at the skin surface for a protection against external aggression and a strenghtening effect.

SOFTISAN® 650 - IOI OLEO
A new generation natural film-former with a light non-sticky sensory feel. It offers water-resistance and film-evenness in sun care and helps moisturize the skin.
INCI: Polyglyceryl-3 Azelate/Caprate/Caprylate/Stearate Crosspolymer
GRANSIL SIW-067 - GRANT
A silicone elastomer dispersion that delivers excellent non-tacky, non-oily and smooth characteristics, the network offers sebum absorption and control.
Its water affinity allows lighter skin feel and possible quick break effect.

SUNSPHEREâ„¢ H-53 - AGC
A spherical, porous silica that enhances texture, spreadability, and a soft matte finish, making it especially valuable in sun care formulations.
Its porous structure also helps boost SPF by creating a more complex path for UV rays, improving overall protection.
